Good morning all, and here’s the latest from Nimble
Ape. Since the last diary entry things have picked up somewhat, the wind
has improved and we are bowling along at 8kts towards Tortola. We have 20
to 25kts of wind and a moderate sea state which is bouncing us around a little
and sleep is not easy. However, our optimistic eta now seems quite
feasible after a couple of quick days we only have 850 miles to run. Long
may it continue. Lately we have enjoyed the company of more dolphins, and in
the morning watch Chris got hit in the back by a flying fish. It gave him
quite a start as it’s the last thing you expect at 2am while
steering. Ian caught another fish today, it was in the morning and he had
to go back as we’d only just had breakfast and didn’t want him
hanging about on the boat until someone could find the courage to gut and
fillet him. The food and water are going to make it to Tortola, which is
comforting, and we have remained well fed despite the diet now becoming a bit
repetitive. Newman is beginning to dream about rib-eye steak and a good
glass of red wine and we think he has reached the limits of allowable
deprivation of creature comforts. In fact, secretly we are all ready for
a some fresh food, a hot shower not in salt water, and an ice cold beer. And with that happy thought we’ll sign off for today. Yours Aye, Apes Chris shooting the sun..... |
