                | Richard's flight arrived early and he was on his
way to the marina by taxi before John and I arrived by hire care to collect him.
Never mind, we found him at the marina bar without problem and the hire car was
ready for our sightseeing tour of the island on Monday. So yesterday was spent looking round the island.
The scenery is spectacular and the museum at the site of the 1953 volcanic
eruptions proved well worth the visit. As senior citizens we got a 50% reduction
on the 10 euro entrance fee. Every little helps when you are getting by on a
pension. We ate at a new venue in the evening with Tony and
Brian, both sailing solo across the pond. Tony's choice of restaurant proved to
be a good one. Today started with very low cloud and drizzle. We
checked the forecast again getting predictions up to 10 days ahead. The bad news
is that the wind is just not helpful and we have come to the conclusion that if
it is going to be a slow difficult passage then the sooner we get going the
better. We would look pretty stupid hanging around the Azores for a week for
better winds if they do not show up. This afternoon we will set off for Praia da Vitoria
on Terceira, hoping to arrive tomorrow morning. That may well be our last stop
in the Azores. Waiting for Richard at the airport Pico
