Finally made landfall in the Canaries!  Marina
del Sur, Las Galletas at 10:15 a.m. to be precise. The sun is shining
in a blue sky, the wind is light and warm and the sea is clear and blue. Can't
be bad.
Since yesterday lunchtime the passage has all been
about keeping fuel usage to a minimum, while motoring or motor sailing all of the
way. With only partial help from the wind and conditions  constantly
changing, requiring lots of sail reefing, shaking out and tweaking. We
made it here with 40 litres left in the tank after adding all our reserve
cans.
First sight of land was as it became dark yesterday
evening, when the lighthouse became apparent, and then by 23:00 the general
lights of the Tenerife and Gran Canaria were clear. The passage last night took
us down the east coast of Tenerife about a couple of miles offshore well inside
the TSS so no big ships to worry about.
First priority was a shower and now we are
cleaning, tidying up, and sorting out the boat for a stay in the marina. No time
for pictures now but we will add some soon.
