24 hour Run GPS (overground) 110Nm Midday wind and weather Force 3 NE Bright sunshine Sea state: Very long 1meter swell slight waves. Temperature: 33 C Our hopes for some decent wind were not
fulfilled during the afternoon and night although there was some veering
but too light to sail successfully, however after breakfast this morning things
started to look up and we are now making good progress under cruising chute and
main. At least all the motoring enabled us to make plenty of water and do some
washing.
The fishing went well with a smallish tuna and,
later on, we caught a huge fish but unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) it
escaped.
Last night is better forgotten. It started
well with a superb starter of the yellowfin tuna but went downhill when we found
the pizza to be off. It had to be float tested and we substituted cheese which
went well with the excellent ratatouille.
The night was much disturbed by sails slatting
(flapping noisily for the non-sailers) in the light and fickle
wind.
However by morning everything was rosy again. A
late breakfast followed by good winds from the right direction raised morale a
treat. The day is cloudless, the sun hot and flying fish are scattering as
we race through the water.
