                | Our position is 32:48.46N 12:11.79W Quite a varied day all round. It started with good
winds pushing us onward at a very respectable rate. Kay cooked a splendid meal
of pork in BBQ sauce which raised spirits. A little wagtail decided to join us
and hopped around the deck for a while refusing plum cake and water. (mind
you most others had refused the plum cake also - not Portugal's
best). All was well until a squall was sighted on the horizon. John &
Ted just had time to don full oilies when the heavens opened and the rain came
down with a vengeance. Sail was shortened in a hurry when equally suddenly it
stopped leaving us with zero wind and a noticeable increase in temperature. This
was the forecast mini high which we had expected and from then on the winds have
been very slight. It was time to motor and try out Ted's jury rigged
autohelm. It worked and has continued since then with almost no attention. We
continued motoring all night making adequate progress, the tedium only relieved
by some dolphins visiting and swimming alongside the boat stirring up
phosphorescense. By morning the conditions were much the same and
bright sunshine allowed some drying to be done. We have increased revs since
measurements of fuel used was below expected and, whilst it will be tight we
expect to arrive Tenerife on Fri or Sat. |
