Well we had to do a sudden departure from Suwarrow, as the wind picked up from the SE and the fetch in the anchorage became uncomfortable, with more snubber lines and anchor chains and foredeck gear breaking on several yachts. We were there for the last blow 10 days ago and didn't want to go through anchor watches again - may as well head out and do those at sea, so off we left with 6 other yachts.

Really enjoyed our 3 week stay here - Gosh where does the time go ?
Explored lots of the Motus and reefs, saw many birds, coconut crabs, sharks and big fish.
Had several potluck dinners at the yacht club with a very sociable crowd of yachties, and John the caretaker and his family are so accomodating, making it very hard to leave.
Just a fab place to stop. Real mix of cruisers too, and we're all getting
along famously, but feeling a tad dry the next day after drinkies and
potluck dinners ashore and singalongs too . One night everyone took in musical instruments and there were 7 guitars, a flute, a recorder, and a couple of small bongo type drums !
Boats are from all around the world and many have done a lot of sailing too.
There's 3 kiwis, 3 USA, a Japanese yacht - perhaps the first in Suwarrow, 2
of  English, German and French, 1 of each in Dutch, Belgium, Ireland,
Monaco, Canadian and Norwegian.! Whew !!!
During the day we go off on
excursions in the dinghies to the other motus and watch the sea birds
nesting, collect flotsam and jetsam, do some snorkeling, and generally have
a splendid day. Don't want to move on but run out of beer and jam and now
wine, so it's time to leave !!!!!!
