Passed the 1000 nautical mile mark last night
sometime so have now covered one third of the first leg.The autopilot does all
the work we just kind of babysit for it, this system even tracks the wind so we
can optimize our speed whilst keeping our bearing pretty cool. We have been
under sail for nearly 2 days now which is nice as our speed has increased
greatly. Tomorrow night we should reach the next way point after which we will
cut due South and head through 8 degrees (480 nautical miles) of doldrums so we
will likely loose some wind before picking the trades upagain South of the
equator. Thus far no severe weather systems of note, not much to do exceptwatch
DVDs, sleep and fish. Occasionally we wrest the helm from the autopilot to try
to increase speed for a bit or for another photo op! Caught 2 Tuna last night
which are marrinading right now, plain
sailing!!!!!! |
