Enough wind finally yesterday evening to get some
good sails up. (12-16 knots wind from north west). This morning (Monday)
winds up to 17 knots, enough to cut motor and save fuel and still get 10 knots
speed. Put the 'cruising kite" (asymetrical spinnaker) up today,
impressive big chute, wind down to 10-12 knots so boat speed about
7-8knots. heading nearly due West to get into the stronger winds and
away from these Mexican doldrums.
No fish bit for 3 days but yesterday 3 fish in 15
minutes then nothing since. 1 mid size got away before could reel to
boat. one small (one foot yellow fin tuna) not worth keeping and one
beautiful Dorado fish, near 3 feet long and 15 lbs or so, but jumped off hook
right as Stuart was hoisting him in to boat. we'll see next
days..
lots of love,
-Charles
