Rolling along Sunday morning in ESE 4 at 6k in sunshine at last. Had a couple of lousy days nighs with squalls and rain and wind all over the place. Main has been slamming a lot and 4th up non batten luff car attachment webbing broke, probably weakened by UV over the years, so we had to go to 3rd reef and retie as temporary measure. Been in predominantly ESE/SSE for last 48 hours and presently on port tack. Lots of sail trim and pole moving but usually to not much avail. Duogen stopped working but found reason and have temporary fix so it pumping out the amps again when we get up to 6k plus. Taking sea samples for some Canadian University research project very 4 days. Instructions say do not take samples if wearing nylon clothing and wash bucket then decanting bottle three times before filling!!!   Have another lengthy questionaire from another Canada Uni to detail injuries at sea for some research project, in order to enhance future safety at sea. Best way would be to stop people going to sea in the first place and make them fill in questionaires for a project to determine how their lives have been enhanced by filling in questionaires. Had the watermaker going and filled tanks but still being very mean with water so I expect B O will mask the mythical smell of land. Only time I ever smelt land was lavender off Turkey which I have to admit was gorgeous.
