In response to the overwhelming demand of one
reader, I am now blogging.
LP is a hive of nautical activity I.e.
drinking.
Went up the mast yesterday for the first time and of
course forgot to take camera. Fortunately all the right bits seemed to be
in the right places.
Been trying to fashion boards to affix extra fuel cans
and seriously regret not having paid more attention in woodwork "O" Level
class.
Were at a 'crew dinner' for the up to 13m aka 'tiddlers'
class. There are 3 classes and the 'tiddlers has the
smallest number of entries!!! Big p u last night thrown by the Mayor and the
Corporation. The noise was deafening so it must have been good. When I left some
bloke on stilts, wearing a thong and a feather headdress was strutting his
stuff- 'hello sailor'.
For any readers contemplating a nautical escape from the
restrictions of life ashore, be advised that we are all wearing wrist bands,
have a photo ID hanging round our necks and will have a Yellowbrick tracker
fitted to the boaty to transmit our position. Prisoners on parole suffer less
indignity. The real tragedy is that some boaters actually put them
on!!!
Roger arrives Monday and Jack on Wed. Hopefully
they will be laden with bits.
Currently moving around cockpit with great ease as have
taken the wheel off to try and eliminate a very annoying tapping caused by
excess play. That nice Mr Lewmar is his most helpful manual says this is "easily
done". Sadly however this seems to be something of an optimistic view as it
seems we now have to take the top of the binnacle off, to which is attached the
compass, throttle, various wiring and other bits. Might just learn to live
with the tapping.
Almost time for more nautical
activity. |
