Back in business folks! After consulting with the good
people at Mailasail (Sue and Helle) and my poor wife being the go-between, we've
have for the moment anyhow sorted the comms problem. Sue suggested taking all
the connections apart and putting them back together firmly! In addition, I
lightly abraided the connections with very fine emery paper, and cleaned the
connections with a cotton bud dipped in acetone. A lot of muck came off.
As to progress, well, we spent over two days absolutely
becalmed and now the wind is coming directly from the direction we need to
go in so it will be tacking for the next week or so. It's going to be a long
one.
On the plus side, I saw some (unidentified) birds, one
of which decided to rest on the bimini and leave it's calling card, some
dolphins or porpoise, and a whale. I think it was a minkie whale and it stayed a
respectful 200 yards or so away. Thank goodness.
I did manage a dip in the water when we we're becalmed
and so I was able to have a good wash. But I should have bought some soap
suitable for salt water.
