It was time to get back into the boat and go to the snorkeling destination. We slipped into the water in a little mangrove lined bay. The water was brackish and visibility wasn’t good.

But it was good enough to see the turtles swimming by and also the 2 seahorses that Fabrisio pointed out.

 I have never seen seahorses as big as these, they must have been about 8 inches long.

A little further on we saw a small octopus, which Fabrisio picked up (personally I do not approve of this action, it is not how I was trained to dive) the octopus responded by releasing a jet of black ink.

We snorkeled further out toward the rocks and the surge.

There we saw a large ray, an eagle ray, a white tipped reef shark, a couple of turtles and 2 extremely well camouflaged octopi.

I have been on dives where I have seen much less than this, what it lacked in colour it made up for in diversity.

Fabrisio took us to another bay for lunch. As we sat eating in the boat, we saw large turtles heads popping up every now and then, all around us. I kid you not, we must have seen about 30 large

turtles, all just swimming below the surface and popping their heads up for a breather. All except one, who, while we were looking the other way made a huge splash somehow. I have never seen so many turtles in my life, let alone in one spot in such a short time.

On the trip back we saw 2 more Mantas breaching, awesome.

One thing you can say for the Galapagos (which by the way means tortoise) they certainly have a profusion of wildlife (except for the flamingos and fur seals….so far).
