Once safely berthed in Palma on Monday we tested the engine starting – which has been an intermittent problem since we left and it wouldn’t start again. Remember that the generator had also failed. So we called out our favourite engine mechanic in Palma and he arrived the next day, fixed the generator and diagnosed the engine problem – we need a new starter motor which he will get within a day or two.

Nick needs to be back soon to return to university so we decided that Majorca was the best place to fly from and suddenly the flight was booked for Tuesday at 0100 (yes, 1 o’clock in the morning).

So we all went out for dinner to a lovely tapas bar on our first night in Palma and then migrated to a very English pub before Nick went off reluctantly to catch his flight to rainy, cold Kent and the return to very rainy,cold Newcastle university.

Hopefully we will have everything fixed by Thursday or earlier and set off for Ibiza and then  the Spanish mainland on Friday.
