Last night we had the OCC party at the summer home of Claus Jaeckel, the local OCC Port Officer. Claus and his wife Gerlinde (Linde) put on a superb party -renting a tent by the side of the fjorde and the local butcher brought a complete pig to roast! We had 8 OCC boats anchored off and the crews of another one came by road. Past Commodore Alan Taylor and his wife Jenny came by road as well as another OCC couple, Martin and Merrianne Kempe from Lymington. Our friend (and past Vice Commodore) Erik Vischer came by air at the last minute and we all had a great evening. It had rained all day but cleared in the afternoon.
Last night it blew very hard and it continued all day from the WSW up to 25 knots. I had to replace the windlass solenoid on Al Shaheen and by the time that was done it was blowing full strength. All the other boats left by mid morning but Jenny and I felt very tired and decided to stay another night. We left the anchorage at 1630 and moved down river to a delightful anchorge off Massholm, ready for an early start tomorrow. The plan is to sail direct to Gdansk in Poland, 350 miles away.
