                | We have motored about 15 miles north to the largest
village of the Kuna Indians, Ustupu.  09:07:74N
77:55:76W.   We have had cloudy skies the last 2 days and alot
of rain, although it hasn't been heavy.  It seems the rainy season has
started early this year, just our luck.  Thunder and lightening is a
regular occurance, especially late afternoon and early evening, it sits
mainly over the mainland, it provides spectacular viewing, but not when it gets
close!!! The cloud cover makes navigation difficult and we
are so pleased we bought the excellent Panama Cruising Guide when we saw
it  in Curacao, the aerial photos and chartlets are invaluable.  We
had another yacht arrive in our anchorage just as we were leaving this
morning , it was Panamanian and possibly a charter, otherwise it has been
very quiet.   Our main problem at the moment is the tiny
no-see-um insects which have invaded the boat and have eaten us both raw.
They get through the mosquito nets so we are currently at a loss on how to
eliminate them as they seem immune to bug spray and appear to be very very
hungary. We will go ashore to explore soon, it could be very
interesting. Updated via Satpone 28 April
