>> Great downwind sail to Oban this morning. Took a visitors buoy outside Oban sailing club. Lots of yachts were here and we realised it was the start day for the Peaks race where fell runners and sailors race and run on 3 Islands: 10k in Oban, sail to Mull, run up Ben More, sail to Jura, run up The Paps, sail to Arran, run up Goat Fell. Takes 3- 4 days. No engines allowed even on tenders- the poor runners have to row themselves out amongst a maelstrom of large boats in their shorts trying to attract their own boats attention. It was MENTAL.
