2nd May  PUERTO DE ANDRAITX - MALLORCA

Last night Susannah took me for dinner to a restaurant she’d been to before, when she stayed on a previous occasion. The place was wide open, and we were freezing – there was an open space for performance. They closed some of the doors, then the main act made his entrance in a white spandex buttock clinging oufit, with a cheeky little hat, who proceeded to do acrobatics climbing net curtains hung from above – very well executed, well up to Cirque de Soleil standard. Next he performed on a swinging hoop. He came to our table and explained he was a Catalan living in Ibiza, but travelled all over the place with his act.

Today an early start at 07.10, a mirror glass sea, winds variable 0-2, so we motored across to Mallorca.

It was uneventful, apart from the usual avoiding trawlers bit, I never know how far their nets or lines are out, and may be super cautious, but I always try to keep well out of their way without deviating too much from my best course.

We were told a marinerao would be waiting for us at the Club Nautico berths at Puerto de Andraitx, but there was no sign, in spite of repeated VHF assurances that he was just on the way. We circled about waiting – and were finally directed to berth alongside a reception pontoon, by a guy who could hardly have been less helpful, he almost refused to take the stern mooring line from me, and left it half on and half off the cleat, before wandering off telling us someone would be along later to direct us to another berth.

So we were in P de A at around 16.30, and texted Clive and Julia, who were joining us there, they were on the bus from Palma. Then along came a really cheerful harassed marinero, who apologised for the delay, said he was doing everything – manning the fuel pontoon, berthing, collecting fees etc etc, and that as we were already moored why not just take the fixed line he offered and stay there for the night. Perfect!

Puerto de Andraitx was beautiful, calm, ringed by hills/mountains. Clive and Julia turned up about 5 ish, and we wandered into town (about 10 minutes), did a quick supermarket shop, S and I took the stuff back to Psyche, C and J off to find a restaurant. We met up after a bit of a search, they had gone to the far end of the strand, had a good meal, then back to crash out.

Today we did 55 NM
