Day 10: All's well aboard Parati. Started sailing
yesterday afternoon; wind as expected from the north east, so closed hauled - at
first with the solent and then genoa as the wind dropped off a little. Still
sailing closed hauled at about 6 knots - despite the fact that "gentlemen never
go to windward"! - and heading roughly due north. When we reach the same
latitude as the Azores tomorrow we are expecting, after a short lull, to pick up
westerly winds later tomorrow night or early Tuesday morning. We may stop and
anchor at Lajes on Flores first, before heading to either Horta on Faial or
Heroismo on Terceira to officially "check-in"; both are "Schengen" ports of
entry, but the latter may be the only one where we can check-in the
dogs.
