Dear Blog
Well after being stuck here for 10 days (6days due
to the Icelandic volcano) we look as if we will be coming out tonight on the 1st
plane to leave. Traveleads our travel agent have done a great job and we have
been lucky I think. Although the weather here has not been warm (only 20C) and
we have had 1 whole day of rain, we've had a good time and really enjoyed
each other's company and seeing most of Bermuda. Last night Brian Oatley the
commodore of the SGDSC where we are (and the guy organising my mooring for
the next 3 weeks) took us on a great tour of Castle harbour, St David's
Head and the St George's harbour in his Boston Whaler - beautiful and very
wealthy area with wonderful beaches (alas not warm enough to enjoy fully
although AJB has had a morning swim every day)
I forgot in my last blog to say what heppend to the
bowthruster. Well when we opened up the hatch on top, this is what we saw
 Yes there was >20 litres down there far more
than the 2 or 3 litres we had had before from the leaky hatch - and this
must have covered everything very conclusively with water.. We bailed this lot
out, washed it all down with fresh water sprayed it all with WD40 and blow
me down it worked - both ways too! Well done Lewmar in making an underwater
electric motor!!
I have now sealed the hatch with Sikaflex
(better than silicone but hard to open) and hopefully this will last till I
get the boat to Itchenor and Northshore can do it properly with a new opening
hatch. As well as the stanchions which I have not got great confidence in -
Garry Fry should advise what they intend to do when he comes out with me
in 3 weeks time.
 My next blog will come from mid Atlantic - this
great photo of us taken by a boat in the ARC from 1 mile away also in mid
Atlantic.
