Dear Blog

Midday position Bermuda time 32 26N 64 28W
Well here we are at sea again. My crew finally arrived by 11pm last night - drank too much polishing off 2 bottles of ed wine and the Caol Isla - thanks Boases for this. We got up early went to customs to clear out in St George's , then motored out - Nightsong did her usual thing and threw another problem at me. There was a terrible noise from the shaft at 1500rpm - it looks as if the prop shaft is bent somehow- I just wonder if it is something Garry Fry did to the rope cutter when we were in drydock last week. More of this trip to the old Naval Dockyard in a future blog - I meant to do while still on wifi but there were other things on my mind!!

When we got outside St George's at 1030hrs the wind was blowing from the south force 4, there was nothing we could do about the prop shaft without returning to Bermuda for a day or more and even then who can say what the problem is (it will have to wait till the Azores) - so we set sail for Horta, Faial about 1800 miles away. Cracking along at 7.5 to 8 knots on a beam reach - 11 days?? We are 20 miles ahead of the ARC Europe 20 boats - they started at midday - and there is 1 non-ARC 55fter yacht just behind us
