Dear Blog

I spoke too soon! Bloody jib came down last night about 2330hrs - this time the snap shackle had snapped open - we guess caused by the round split pin getting caught on something. So at first light this morning (now about 0840hrs GMT same as Aberdeen!) AJB went up the mast again to retrieve it. The wind was stronger than 2 days ago and while I was up there John recorded 9.3kts of boat speed
under single reefed main and 28 knots of wind (force 7)!!  My windage must have helped!! John on the helm, Tony Robinson on the foredeck and Tony Boas on the winch. Excellent team effort! But please don't make me have to do it again.

The result is that we lost another 10 miles or so during the 10hrs we sailed overnight without the jib.

Spirits good though because we should be half way to St Lucia early tomorrow. So less than 9 days for half way, that's <18 days -Jonnie you'll lose your wager!!

At 1000hrs we were at 19.08N, 35.43W with 1480 miles to go!
