We were up at 5:30 to get to the Goose Bay airport for an 8:00am departure.   With Reykjavik being 3 hours ahead of our local time, and 1350nm to cover, we needed to get away reasonably early to arrive in time for dinner.

Everything went smoothly and we were airborne at 7:50.   Lucky ---- as we just got off before they closed the Goose Bay airport.  Fog was rolling in quickly as we taxied and we lifted off into a ceiling 200 feet above the runway.   Visibility was down to 900' just several minutes after we got out and we heard arriving aircraft deciding to hold or divert elsewhere.   To our surprise 1500' above ground we were in clear blue skies with sunshine..........the weather never fails to amaze me!!!!

The trip took 7 1/2 hours and we arrived 30 minutes ahead of plan.   Our experiments for fuel efficiency, Toronto to Goose Bay, paid off.  We took off with 130 gallons in the wings, flew direct Iceland, and landed in Reykjavik with enough full to have carried on the Scotland!!

You will see more about this trip in the Log Book section soon.
