Well we're certainly getting all sorts of weather out here: after motoring in light winds at the start of the trip we were bashing into a short steep chop for much of yesterday. Yesterday evening it got too bad to head straight into so we were sailing along about 30 degrees off our course battling lumpy seas and a strong opposing current (not good for the optimists in the Arrival Sweepstakes). Then this morning the wind died away completely as we were enveloped by a huge rain squall so it was sails down again, motoring along on flat seas, while taking advantage of all that water to give My Way a good wash down. Now the rain's gone and the wind has come up a little so we're once more making good progress, motor sailing right on course.

There've been a bunch of fishing boats around us, the record is seven counted during one three hour watch. Yesterday one of them seemed intent on maintaing a collision course with us until we fired up both engines and pulled ahead at which point he gave up and passed a few hunderd meters astern.

Lastly, lunch today definitely deserves a mention: crayfish sandwiches! No, we didn't catch them from My Way, they were given to us by Chris on Thursday Island just as we left. With freshly baked bread and Linda's secret sauce they went down a treat. Actually, yesterday's lunch was another Thursday Island special: pies from Aunty Mary's bakery!

All the best from everyone on My Way
