Hi All,
Well the bad weather has begun to reach out to us. It's been raining steadily for a few hours and though there's still very little wind we're bouncing around "like a joey in its mother's pouch" as our Aussie crew Phil said. Earlier today we had the sails up in about 15 knots of wind to try and steady ourselves a little and suddenly RIIIIP! a tear opened up in our battered old mainsail like a new hole in the threadbare seat of an old pair of shorts. We'll have a go at fixing it when things calm down a bit. The worst part is we aren't able to head west 'cos that's where the tropical depression lies and we can't head southwest cos that's where the wind and waves are coming from so the best we can do is sail AWAY from our destination, slightly east of south. Hopefully the weather will give us a break in a day or two and we'll be able to make some progress again. In the meantime we're hanging on and eating beans on toast!
Cheers,
Us on My Way
