As every year, we suspect back some costs. The winter was a strong one , and some damages has to be fixed.
Some works at the electricity as the humidity is very high in Ponta Delgada and some works at the aeration system of the fresh water system and checking the pump.
An old lady costs money and certainly for a boat. They always say, buy a boat and work all days to pay the maintenance. In my case it's certainly the case.
This year the certificates expires and all have to be renewed. Back a new adventure, certainly in a strange country, even in Europe.
At least the communication system is nearly for 85% installed. We work with an Inmarsat Isatphone pro for all email traffic and weather information.
Near this we are still installing the GMDSS SSB transmitter/receiver. We are looking for a good antenna configuration.
Concerning our sails, the automatic system has a problem on the switch. 2 new switches are ordered and must be installed.
As every year, a good check of the electricity is necessary as also the yearly maintenance of the engine .
Bow thruster was fixed last year.
For this year, we don't suspect lot of additional works. Maybe refit the navigation lights and some of lights inside the cabins. (4 pcs)
March will be the month were we prepare the vessel for the 5 yearly inspection . A full check of safety equipment, navigation equipment and refil the boat with basic inventory of food.
Planning of works for March 2016:
1. Yearly maintenance of main engine
2. Yearly maintenance of aux. generator
3. Yearly maintenance of outboard engine for dinghy.
