"Emergency" stop on Fiji

We now have 691 nm to go before we get to Tanna in Vanuatu. We are however on anchor ... We were becalmed in the middle of the ocean and noticed that we were only 20 nm away from a beautiful island/atoll named: Ongea Ndriki (part of the Lau islands). To get here legally is ... painful ... so a little "emergency" stop was in order. If any officials board us I will give them a tale of broken engines and no wind. Being worried for my crew, I saw that the only safe thing to do was to pull in here and do some repairs. The chances of officials boarding us are less than 1 on a scale from 1 - 1000.

:-)

So now we are anchored inside the reef that encloses 4 islands. We are anchored just off a beach on Onega Ndriki, an island that is completely deserted. I see no sign of habitation anywhere, so we are finally enjoying the Pacific dream.

The wind is supposed to pick up on Wednesday (in 2 days), so then we will sail on, but for now: Time to explore!
