The last 12 hours have been particularly good and we have really been moving. At 4 am this morning (May 9th) we passed the 1/3 of the way mark and felt pretty good about it.

Last night Topi pre-empted the passing and made some delicious shillingsboller or kanel i svingen boller (pastries) that we enjoyed, both during sunset last night, and in the course of the night.

Day 7 looked like this:
We logged 140 nm
Our average speed was 5.8 knots
We ran the engines for a total of 2 hours to charge the batteries.
Average wind speed was around 11 knots
At 18:00 yesterday we had 2062 nm to go before we make landfall.

Right now we have 1945 nm to go before we reach Hiva Oa. Or to put it differently: we have 445 nm left before we reach our half way point.

Right now we are skimming along doing between 7.5 - 8.5 knots, with about a knot of current with us, sailing under the big gennaker in about 14 - 15 knots of wind.

The sky is blue, the sun is out and there are very few clouds in the sky. In short we are in heaven.

We have now been a little over a week at sea and we were all discussing how it didn't feel like we had been at sea for that long. In many ways it feels like the journey just started. Everyone is reading, writing and enjoying their time when the sun is out and when it sets, we use our trusted ipods to listen to music and lectures. Life really is good
