Cruising the Grenadines

Gulliver

After an eventful 24 hours at Gatwick Airport Mark arrived safely back on Gulliver in Marigot Bay with Tom and Alex on the 29th December. We spent 4 nights in Marigot to see in the New Year at Chateau Mygo with fireworks in the bay and bid farewell to Andy and Lydia before heading down to the Pitons on the 2nd Jan. An eventful night in the bay between the Pitons with 40 + knots of wind coming over the mountains along with driving rain. We eventually left at 6.30am the following morning in search of sunshine! After a very bumpy crossing and a touch of mal de mer from Oli, we passed St Vincent and arrived in Bequia on the 3rd with the sun shining. This is a beautiful island with a fantastic caribbean atmostphere and we enjoyed a great dinner at Frangipani followed by a 'brisk' walk up to the fort the following morning. We are not convinced that we found the fort but we had a great view of both sides of the island and saw the most amazing house being constructed. Mark is saving hard!!

We left Bequia with 2 crew down as Mark bid farewell to Anna and Oli who are now heading for Trinidad, assuming they find a ferry/plane/bathtub to get them out of Bequia! With Anna being the final ARC crew member to leave there are now 3 of us on board for the remainder of our Grenadine cruising.

Leaving Bequia we headed to Mustique where the water was beautifully clear and we all dived in for a quick cool off. We went ashore for drinks in Basil's Bar before heading up to one of the villas for a fantastic dinner with Mark's boss. We saw Mustique as you should do! Joff then lent us his buggy (4WD turbo-golf carts that everyone drives) this morning so that we could see the sites of Mustique and visit Macaroni Bay for a quick swim: apparently very much the beach to been seen at, though swimming conditions were a bit rough for Alex's liking! Some of the houses we saw on our drive around the island are immense with huge sweeping lawns and far reaching views.

This afternoon we have now arrived in Canouan, to the south west of Mustique, and will be staying here for the night before heading off to Mayreau and Tobago Cays tomorrow.
