The enemy are
close......
Hi All,
Presently we have a boat closer than we have had
one since he start, Desna are approximately a mile or so behind, on a slightly
hotter angle then us having played Snakes and Ladders with them for the
last few days.
The saving Grace is that she give us around 7
hours, so we are not unduly concerned but it certainly helps to focus the
mind on the task in hand.
We have reviewed todays positions from luch, issued
to us between 1700 and 1900 GMT - in a nutshell it is all very close with hours
seperating most of the top 10. Our present reading of the situation is that we
are in 2nd, with a few boats very close behind (1 - 4 hours
behind).
P42 being the current leader - we need to be about
50 miles further in front of them than we are, which will be a very tall order
to make up (plus the extra time we will owe them on handicap) by the time we
arrive.
That said it is all to play for and we would hope
to perform well in the increasing breeze in the next few days. We shall
see.
Current predictions suggest an arrival about 4
days and 10 hours, which would bring us on Wednesday morning with a crossing
time of about 16 and a half days, long time - food is looking like it will
just stretch that far.
Thanks as ever for the e-mails, sorry to those in
St Lucia by now - we are doing the best we can in the
conditions.
All the best.
Duncan
