Hi Chris,

Position is as above:

26 13.825N 16 43.612W

A quick summary of what we have experienced, we are are now 11.3 miles East of rhumb line heading for cape verde waypoint (20, 23).

True wind direction has been between 20 and 90 for last 4 hours, averaging 50 with speeds around 8 - 12 knots - current boatspeed is 8.5 knts.

Since dark at 1845 yesterday we were stuck between two banks of cloud which influenced us dramatically, and frequently (this caused major shifts and changes in strengths - sometimes full 360's, but generally gave us between  345 and 025 {which gave us an opportunity to come back to rhum as we had been heading south fast on port until then] )until approximately 0130.

From viewing gribs our key question is it now appears that we may be able to head west sooner than planned as low seems to itensify and head north earlier than planned?? Is this your view?

Your advice on this and if so when would be much appreciated....

Morale is high, had a great first 9 hours doing around 100 miles - bit tiring for the first spell as we sailed for a while before going into watches.

Kate H - all the crew would like to wish you a belated 1st wedding anniversary for yesterday and thank you for giving him a pass.......!

Alison - hope the knee is also getting better..

All the best
