Dolphins and Pirates

Yesterday afternoon saw the first visit by dolphins to the boat. It was all very exciting as they came over and started playing in our bow wave. Jumping in and put of the sea and even crossing under the bow. Unfortunately my camera decided to have a ‘moment’ and refused to work until they had all but gone but Mark assures me we will see more along the way so hopefully we’ll catch them next time on camera.

We hit our first waypoint today. It’s a point we set on the map that indicates we’ve done one third of the distance in terms of miles, and all being well, more than a third of the journey in terms of time as we are now hitting the trade winds and currents. Both are now behind us all the way and we are really moving on. This was proved again last night with Marks watch seeing winds of 35 knots at times and some BIG seas. Bunk ping pong was again enjoyed by everyone trying to sleep!

Before turning in last night we watched another movie. Our saloon is a real movie theatre with everyone crowding around the chart table and even those on watch perched on the stairs so they can see both the movie and what’s going on ‘upstairs’. Over the last couple of days we’ve seen Starsky and Hutch and the second Pirates of the Caribbean movie, the latter of which seems to have gone to Marks head. Attached you will see Mark on watch, determined not to miss Starsky and Hutch and his very convincing (!) impression of Captain Jack Sparrow.

Off to look for more dolphins now.
