We are making good progress now and hope to be in Cran Caneria by Thursday. Maybe even tomorrow, if this wind keeps up. The downside is, it is very rocky. Dave fell out of bed three times last night. I have an awning that keeps me in.

This is like camping really in a big caravan that won’t keep still and you can’t stop and walk around.

Making a cup of coffee becomes a big chore, as if you put a cup down then grab the coffee the cup will slide away. You have to have three hands, holding the cup, unscrewing the coffee and using the teaspoon altogether. Then making coffee gets complex when people ask for say sugar or decaff, you can’t remember what you’ve done.

Just had some Weetabix for breakfast. We have long life milk which tastes OK. Weather today is sunny but the breeze keeps it cool. We now have about 200 miles left to go, of the original 700. Since last night the wind speed has picked up to 18 knots. The boat is now doing 7 knots, compared to the 5 when we started.

James is still fishing, but no luck. Although we did have some excitement when the line started to run out yesterday. Dave got him up as he was sleeping and he reeled it in. At first we thought this must be huge, then whatever it was let go and no fish.

Emily cooked last night. We had pasta with pesto and roasted vegetables. Very nice, and good for us. In fact I have been keeping up my 5 a day, we have oranges, bananas, apples and melon on board. The last of the melon went yesterday and that was really yummy.

Interesting what you do with rubbish on a boat. All the degradable waste such as vegetable peelings we throw over the side, all the plastic waste and packaging we store for dumping at Cran Caneria. This includes mainly the plastic water bottles of which there are numerous. We get through a lot of bottled water in 24 hours.

Attached is a picture of Dave and Emily.
