29th November - Fish Supper!
Fish Supper! We did it! James and I got the lines out early
yesterday morning and we caught two fish. This time we were very much on the
ball, both fish were hauled in, Mark produced the whiskey and poured it into
theirs gills to dispatch them (yes really) and George headed off to the swim
deck, in life jacket and harness, to de-scale and gut them. Becci caught the
whole lot on camera, evidence attached. What a team. Then disaster struck. One
of the slippery little suckers, in oven-ready form, minus its insides and head,
managed to escape from Georges clutches and slither back into the sea. Shame.
We’re not quite sure what type of fish they were, perhaps if you can tell
from the pictures you could let us know, but once George had poached the
remaining fish in wine, capers, olive oil and lemon who cares, it was
delicious. The lines are out again today so keep your fingers crossed. We may
escape having to eat the tinned chilli yet! As I write, the sun is shining but we have little
wind. The wind is expected to pick up again tomorrow so hopefully we can make
some good headway then. In the meantime we are using the calm conditions to catch
up on a bit of reading, Mark on a spy novel, James on his boating magazines and
me on a novel about patients in a mental institution (more entertaining than it
sounds), George is creating lunch in the galley and Becci is catching up on
some sleep after getting none last night as the engine was roaring in her ears
– we had to use it for a couple of hours to stop us drifting backwards in
the windless conditions. So I’m signing off for today to eat some yummy
food and top up my tan on deck before the wind hits and it all gets hair
raising again. Hard life! Justine Voller Energy Group Plc (LSE:VLR) We make fuel cells work Please think before you print! Thank you |
