It was good to get away from the quay side in Amorgos to be safe in the anchorage well... That's what we hoped for. All settled a charter boat decided to anchor within a few feet of us, with some 25-30 knots of wind predicted Doug decided to be safe and put out a second anchor to stop us swinging. At approx 3.45am 6/7/13 we were woken by the 500ft Blue Star Ferry setting his anchor only 25 metres away from us. We however, where in the designated anchorage !!!!!!!!.
After watching him load and unload he proceeded to pickup his anchor to leave. It was a scary sigh to see our secondary anchor attached to his chain. Shouting on channel 16 and Doug up front waving a light and making gestures to the hand held radio that continued to take up the anchor, eventually one of the crew saw the problem. In the end Doug had no choice but to tie a fender onto the warp and let it all go to stop any damage to our boat.
Next morning no fender to be found. No damage to classfied II and nobody got hurt.
But it could have been a tow of a life time.
