BETELGEUSE Tuesday 06/12/22 DAY 16

13:41.8N 57:35.5W A day of utter hilarity as we celebrated Claire’s birthday;
starting with a traditional Massey family birthday “Walk in”, a swim, endless
silly games and a jolly good sing song. Pity no-one knows all the words of
literally a single song, but we are good shouters, emboldened by a lack of
inhibition born of living in such close proximity for the last few weeks.
Morale could not be higher, despite a good dose of motoring as the winds seem
to be ignoring centuries of tradition in this area by blowing from the West. We
carry 290 litres of fuel for the engine and generator, plus an emergency 20
litres, enough for about 300nm of motoring, so it has to be conserved. Young
Will is clocking up the fines now, recently breaking the “no peeing over the
side” rule twice in 24 hours. Once at 6.30am this morning when he literally had
to run up on deck having found the heads occupied. Doesn’t bode well for when he
is the age of the rest of us. There is much excitement over seeing our loved
ones with Emma, Clare, Rosie, Holly, Hannah flying out to meet us very soon. Jobs
are being handed out to spruce the boat up and look proper Bristol fashion for their
arrival. Finally, we were privileged to witness captivating dolphin action, such
a thrill. Jonnie Haircut action pic ... |
