Day 6 of racing. 173 miles sailed. The north northwest force 7 continued through all of Thursday with big winds and sea state before moderating to force 6 and further to force 5 overnight. At 10 pm we unreefed to full mainsail but continued under heavy weather jib due to rough sea state. The stove burners were drowned by a wave overnight that entered the cabin so it was a long night without hot drinks until dried out. AJ performed very well in rough seas but got knocked twice by big beam on waves that
caused her to round up and hove to. By 8 am Friday morning, AJ again flying the whopper - her 150 percent jib. Sailed through Thursday overnight to Friday under a beautiful starry sky with the big dipper, Cassiopeia and milky way. Some bioluminescence. AJ and crew having an absolute blast. I had forgotten how magical ocean sailing is!
