about a 60 degree angle and are motoring at 6.2 knots over the ground. We
are 316.5 miles away from a waypoint named 'crepes' - this is actually
Salcombe.
It'll just be a short blog tonight because I don't feel particularly well -
I think my body is protesting the closer we get to England!!! The wind
continued to die today, from around 15 knots this morning, on the nose, to
the 5 that we have right now. It has gradually gone round which is good as
for a while we weren't able to sail for England and had to choose between
Nantes and Norway. Due to go round more tonight, and maybe we will get the
spinnaker up for the first time in absolute months tomorrow!
One of the best things about today was that we had sunshine. It was an
absolutely glorious day, although cold due to the northerly winds coming
straight for us. But the sun was sparkling off the water, a sight we haven't
seen in days. Then after dinner tonight (pasta with 'vodka sauce') we were
visited by a whole host of dolphins, playing around in our bow wave for over
half an hour. I missed this because I was sleeping at the time but it sounds
like the boys finally got their proper view of dolphins. Only thing left to
tick off now is a clear starry night.
Our ETA in Salcombe is sometime Thursday morning. The plan is to have lunch
and then set off for Emsworth - we have to get there around midday as the
marina can only be entered at high tide. So there is a better reason for
stopping in Salcombe than just chocolate crepes! (Maybe I shouldn't say a
'better' reason - another reason for stopping in Salcombe). So we should
sail into Emsworth early afternoon on Friday.
Congratulations to Alan and Mary on 'Stella' who should be in Horta by now after a 13ish day crossing from Bermuda - it seems like you guys took exactly the same length of time as we and Gerry did!
