We left Weymouth yesterday at the 10 o’clock bridge opening on a lovely
sunny but breezy day. We sailed the first bit with 1 reef in the mainsail and 2
in the jib but when we altered course dropped the main and sailed just with the
jib as the wind was behind us and quite strong. We had a very exciting roller
coaster of a ride and sailed all the way here including up the needles channel.
There was a great view of the needles with the sun on them. We were exhausted
when we arrived and staggered off to the bar for a very welcome steak and chips
washed down with the local beer. Today it is pouring down, not expected to stop
till Wednesday and still very breezy – all good reasons for our escape from
Weymouth yesterday. We will probably stay here until the rain stops and are
hoping to go to the Hamble River next. |
