Mel and Carl on Morpheus, a lovely couple who really helped us
when we were struggling with confidence. We were in same marina in Santander,
they are goingf to Med, we are going home
After one failed attempt to leave
Santander, we tried again a few days later leaving with Morpheus with an
impressive cloud formation
Morpheus is a very well
equiped Sadler 290
Sunrise on day one, promises to be hot at
last!!
25th June St Denis on Ile d'Oleron
Marina was quite full.
On the road into town.
Typically French restaurant
That's Justine Gabrielle, 3rd from the
end on the left hand side :-)
This is the beach early evening,
everyone's gone home and tide's on its way out.
And now the tide is really
out.
26th June on route to St Martin de Re
Main road bridge between mainland and Ile de
Re, there is at least 30m below each span in picture. J G's mast is 14m high,
but you still hold your breath as you go through.
Here we are snug in our
mooring
As you can see, us suggesting we would
like to leave now, wouldn't go down too well.
27th June on route to Les Sable
d'Olonne
"strange pale cream undulating mass
floated by"
The reception pontoon at Port
Olona
I wanted a picture of Amanda and the flag
on this navy ship obviously being built for an Middle Eastern country, I had
just taken picture when I realised someone very obviously was watching to make
sure I didn't take any more
Part of the old port
You probably can't read the sign on the
wall it says max speed 4 knots, I don't think the fisherman can read it
either.
One of the plazas on the harbour
entrance
If anyone can explain how this got to
the West coast of France I would like to know!!!
29/30th June Ile d'Yeu
Interpid explorer about to set off on
major expedition
One of many lovely homes on this
beautiful island
Everything is very green, so there must
be a reasonable amount of rain
Port Joinville looking towards the town
centre
A really tasteful fashion
statement.
All very neat and tidy
Back on the beach JG is out there
somewhere.
1/2 July Le Palais on belle-Ile
Market time
Part of the citadel
The main entrance
Looking down over the part that is
protected by lock gates
It was all very well maintained and
extremely interesting
The main harbour JG in the middle of the
three on the left.
More to come...
