We went up the Burj al Arab today. We bought our way on to the premises by booking eye-wateringly expensive snacks and drinks near ground level. H then blagged a couple of seats in the otherwise fully booked bar at the top for tea and cakes. We just had to imagine the view as it was foggy.

The place looked a bit tired and dated to me but I don’t get to go to too many 6-star hotels to compare it to.
