A well earned break.

After a long motor across Cadiz Bay (140 miles) in no wind, we were probably fooled into thinking that our carefully timed approach at 0521 for the start of the favourable tide would see an easy passage through the straights. Not so! By 0630 there was a stiff breeze on the nose, rising quickly to 35 knots resulting in very short steep seas which made extremely slow & wet progress (big green ones sweeping the deck) - it took 9 hours to cover the 35 miles from Cape Trafalagar to Gibraltar.

Anyway, we are here safe and sound, drying out and looking forward to a well earned point, meal ashore and most of all, a long sleep!

We plan to depart tomorrow for our passage through the western Med. I’ve not thought about the route yet!
