Final Night at Sea

Another rather frustrating day for wind, we have done our very best to maintain sailing even at speeds as little as 3 knots.
We had a good night last night managing speeds of up to 8 knots in 12 knots of wind using the tradewind sail to it’s full potential but at 5 am the wind finally died to little more that a few knots so on with the engine again and so began the theme for the day. Motor a little, stop, sail a little till wind dies and then motor a little which we must have repeated half a dozen times until finally patience expired!
We are now motoring towards Horta at 6 knots with an ETA there of about 8 am in the morning which to be honest is probably better than arriving at night and having to anchor as we should be allocated a berth immediately upon arrival in the marina.
At present we have 54 miles left and looking at our final night at sea on this leg, We are all in good spirits although pretty tired after 13 days of continual watches. Reflecting tonight on our provisioning we were pretty much spot on for the trip. We have remaining one lime and one lemon, one can of tonic, no gin the final ration was handed out this evening and our final three beers were drunk at lunchtime. All in all and excellent result but we do need to restock tomorrow in Horta.
