Wednesday June 11, 2008. Fernandina Beach, Florida: Lat 30°
40.23’ N, Long 81° 28.14’ W (for the benefit of mailasail
plotting I think our position needs to appear as 30:40.23N,
81:28.14W

Well, we arrived here at Fernandina Beach on Sunday morning
tired and demoralized. Now, after a few days, we are a lot
less tired and we now have a revised plan. It’s certainly
not as ambitious as our original destination but now we have
Melos on the East Coast we thought we would try and do some
cruising here. Several friends suggested we visit the
Bahamas and we have given this very serious thought but in
the end we have made the decision to sail North. So, this
morning we plan to leave Fernandina Beach, head out the
jetties here and sail North towards Port Royal Inlet and
take that entrance to Beaufort, SC. After that our plans
take us to Charleston and from there to Pamlico Sound. This
route gives us lots of options should our engine problem get
worse and still leaves us to do some interesting cruising.
As for our longer term plans, these are more uncertain. At
some point I have to rebuild or replace the engine but for
now we are going to postpone that decision.

It may not be as interesting for y’all as our Atlantic
adventure but we will keep up our blog as long as we are
traveling.
