The inter-tropical convergence zone is known for fickle winds and frequent rainstorms as weather systems from the northern and southern hemispheres collide. We have been battling through this zone for the last two days and it seems we have now made it through to the other side. It did not require much motoring but it did mean lots of changes in sail configuration and a willingness to put up with getting wet on deck. Fortunately, JOIA is completely dry down below.
The good news for today is that we are now half way in our epic crossing from Tahiti to California. The crew will be rewarded with spicy sausage pasta and a round of Hinano Tahiti beers for dinner this evening.
