Penelope III is off this year on a cruise of the Baltic with the OCC

The Baltic Rally will cover some 2000 nm over 8 weeks in June and July starting in Germany and covering Denmark, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Finland, St. Petersburg Russia and Sweden.

SCHEDULE SUMMARY

Kiel CanalArrive in the Baltic beginning June, usually via Kiel Canal.

5th June: Boknis on the Schlei (River) (54°36’14.90" N  x 9°51’35.72"E) Welcome party - Pig on BBQ

6/7th June: sail Schlei to Bornholm and/or Christianso Denmark (200 nm)

10/11th June: sail Bornholm to Gdansk, Poland - Guidedsightseeing tour, Organised dinner

14/15th June: sail Gdansk to Klaipeda, Lithuania

  • Bus trip to Neringa, exploring the huge sand dunes (Sahara in N Europe). www.visitneringa.lt
  • BBQ in the woods on the Curish lagoon oran  informal dinner at Nida.

18 to 21st June: sail Klaipeda to Riga, Latvia (200 nm)

24th June: sail Riga to Runo, Estonia (50 nm)

25th June: sail Runo to Haapsalu, Estonia (80 nm)

26th June: sail Haapsalu to Tallinn, Estonia (70 nm) - Dinner "Pepper Sack" - favorite pub 

 29th June: sail Tallin to Helsinki Finland - Dinner and tour

4/5th July: sail Helsinki to Haapasaari, Finland 100 nm

  • Haapasaari is a small Finnish skerry archipelago 7nm away from the Finnish/Russian sea border with a Finnish border police station on it.
  • You leave from here to cross the Russian sea border

6/7th July: sail Haapasaari - St.Petersburg, Russian Federation 100 nm 

St Petersburg 7-17th July: There will be a professional tour guide fee for this part of the Rally organized by Port Officer Vladimir Ivankiv, at a rate depending on the number of boats joining and the range of events. His costs and the costs for events, tours and other optional activities will be detailed by the organizers for registrants as soon as this information becomes available.

For Russian Federation ALL VISITORS MUST HAVE a visum. No visum is given without an invitation by a Russia citizen, so Vladimir sends an invitation and you then apply for the visum. It's not as tricky as it sounds.

18thJuly: sail St. Petersburg toStockholm through some of the 24,000 islands in the skerrie fairways of Hanko and Alund Islands (+400 nm)

27th July: Stockholm, Sweden - Final tour and dinner

 30th July: depart for Kiel or Gota Canal
