Public holidays in New Caladonia allowed us to arrange a Tuesday leave on the preceding Friday. We were told that we had three days to visit other parts of New Caladonia after we officially departed Noumea. Sunday saw us motoring south east to the Isle of Pines. It was a long day's trip and we arrived just on dark. We awoke to an idyllic anchorage with white sand and clear water.

A cruise ship anchored during the night. They used three of their small boats to ferry about 2500 passengers ashore.
