We sailed a wonderful day through the Brad d'Or saltwater lakes todaynwith wind from the NW on the beam, stopping only for a Cod fishing expedition and a swim before lunch. The water was refreshing but not Irish fresh and cooled us down from the sun.
We were not so lucky with the fishing, too deep the fishers said!

We are presently tied up on a marina in a little village called Baddeck, filling up on diesel and buying the last few provisions before we set sail for Newfoundland.

We have one final bridge to pass under with plenty of clearance, the last one opened for us and then we are out into the open sea again. Earlier we passed under high ( but not too high ) tension wires. With a quick check on our mast height on approach we discovered that we had 24 m clearence from the water to the wires and our mast height is 21.5 m, not for the faint hearted!!
You would not believe looking at it from underneath that you are clear and no one was prepared to keep their hands on the wheel till we passed out the other side!

As we leave the Brad d'Or lakes we will call into Otter Harbour for a short night and be up early (4am) to make one last stop in a highly recommended spot called Ingonish which resembles the Scottish locks( by Doug and Dale of the OCC ) for brekky and a swim!

The crossing to Newfoundland is 200 miles approx. and our land fall is the Bay of Islands so we should be there in 24 hours. From now on the availability of provisions and wifi start to diminish rapidly.
We will do our best to keep up the blog.

The weather currently is great here with sunshine and 15-20 knot winds from behind and settled for the next 4-5 days.
