The 0.75oz spinnaker had been up for nearly three days when a combination of rain and increasing wind resulted in a major split virtually destroying the sail. It was an old sail which owed us nothing and it's loss was not a setback as we have 7 spinnakers in all, though do not intend to use our 'best' racing spinnakers unless we run out of all the others! Changed to poled out genoa for the rest of the night.

We passed both the half way points, distance run through the water and the rhumb line distance (straight line)  to the finish – no turning back now!
