Good couple of days in "Soggy Suva" - its rains a lots due to the prevailing
easterly winds and mountains.  Obtained our cruising permit to visit various
islands, did a bit of shopping including bunches of kava roots to give the
village chief at each anchorage.  Yesterday sailed about 25 miles south west
of Suva to Vaga Bay on the west coast of the island of Mbengga (Beqa) and
anchored off the village.  Went ashore and presented ourselves and the kava
to the chief and asked permission to stay.  He made a long speech in
Fijian - no idea what was said - a few minutes english chat and then a tour
around the village guided by a young man and followed by half a dozen or so
brown eyed children who all helped to push the dingy off the beach.  Very
friendly and welcoming. About a hundred people live here, grow most of their
own food and fish.  All fairly primitive but clean and tidy.
