Arrived Avatiu harbour, Rarotongo 17:20
yesterday. Very small harbour, we dropped the hook and went stern to on
the last available bit of wall beside the local patrol ship. Also in
harbour is the Picton Castle, a three masted barque, she is a sail training ship
and carries supplies to the remote islands in the Cook group. We gate
crashed a new crew party they were having last night and were given a tew beers
and a tour of the ship - at a 127 feet she carries a complement of 80 in fairly
primative conditions and close quarters. The Bus is pure luxury in
comparision! Will be here for two, three days before moving on to Niue,
580 miles to the west.
